New State-of-the-Art Day Surgery Centre Opens in the Shire

Jan 30, 2015

Ramsay Health Care has opened a new $6.5 million day surgery in Miranda to service the growing healthcare needs of the Shire.

The new Kingsway Day Surgery occupies one floor of a large medical precinct and will operate as a dedicated day surgery centre providing a range of specialist services including eye surgery; gastroenterology; urology; dermatology and plastic & reconstructive surgery.

The Centre boasts two operating theatres with state-of- the-art medical equipment and two specialised treatment rooms. The two additional treatment rooms have been designed specifically for minor procedures.

"With a focused and specialised approach, Kingsway Day Surgery expects to meet the demands of the Shires growing population providing local, accessible treatment in a new modernized facility," said CEO Steven Rajcany.

"We opened for business on 22 January and already a number of patients have experienced the new facility and its services. Kingsway Day Surgery holds full accreditation under the National Safety, Quality and Health Service Standards," he said.

Ideally located close to Kareena Private Hospital, also operated by Ramsay Health Care, the Kingsway Day Surgery will provide enhanced medical services for the Sutherland Shire community and expand on an already comprehensive range of medical, surgical, maternity and rehabilitation services currently found at Kareena Private Hospital.

"The Centre has also been a boon for employment in the region with 30 newly employed staff commencing at the facility in January, across various disciplines, as well as introducing a new and exceptional team of doctors to the region."

The official opening ceremony is scheduled for early March.
